Jon and Derek are playing a game of Time Barons together. They begin by putting out their Homeland cards, arranging the remaining cards into stacks by their tech level, and drawing five cards each from tech level I. Jon wins a coin flip so he goes first.

GAME START

Jon's Hand: Temple, Misinformation, Plague, Mission, Catapult

Derek's Hand: Fanaticism, Fort, Temple, Siege, Plague

TURN 1: JON

Jon draws (Misinformation), plays a Mission, and relocates, taking two followers from Homeland and putting them on Mission. He then activates Mission’s second ability and discards a Plague in order to put 2 additional followers on Mission.

Jon's Hand: Temple, Misinformation, Catapult

Derek's Hand: Fanaticism, Fort, Temple, Siege, Plague

TURN 2: DEREK

Derek attaches a Plague to Jon’s Homeland and plays Fanaticism, sacrificing three followers to deal three damage to Jon’s Mission, destroying it!

Jon's Hand: Temple, Misinformation, Catapult

Derek's Hand: Fort, Temple, Siege

TURN 3: JON

Jon first loses a follower to Plague. He plays a Temple, relocates three followers to Temple, and then gains a follower, placing it onto Temple.

Jon's Hand: Misinformation, Catapult

Derek's Hand: Fort, Temple, Siege

TURN 4: DEREK

Derek plays Siege and targets Jon’s Temple. Jon reacts by playing Misinformation and redirecting the damage to his Homeland!

With Derek's final two actions, he upgrades to Level II.

TURN 5: JON

Jon loses a follower to Plague. He plays a Catapult for two actions and relocates, moving three followers onto the Catapult. Because Homeland no longer has any followers, Plague is discarded. He then sacrifices a follower on his Temple for an extra action in order to activate Catapult’s ability and do a damage to Derek's Homeland.

Jon's Hand: -

Derek's Hand: Fort, Temple

TURN 6: DEREK

Derek draws a Library, and immediately plays it, ending his turn.

Jon's Hand: -

Derek's Hand: Fort, Temple

TURN 7: JON

Jon draws two cards, a Church and Divine Inspiration, and then continues his attack, hitting Derek's empty Library for a damage.

Jon's Hand: Church, Divine Inspiration

Derek's Hand: Fort, Temple

TURN 8: DEREK

Derek relocates four followers to Library. Library’s ability is activated and he draws a card from the Level II stack (Martyr). He still has two actions left afterward, so he plays a Fort, which comes with three followers on it.

Jon's Hand: Church, Divine Inspiration

Derek's Hand: Temple, Martyr

TURN 9: JON

To start his turn, Jon plays Divine Inspiration, which lets him draw a card from Level II even though he’s still at Level I. The card he draws is a Blockade, which he plays immediately, killing one follower on each of Derek’s sites.

As a reaction, Derek plays Martyr, drawing three cards, one for each follower killed by the Blockade.
